Billy Shears Band

Join us at Main Street Music for a rousing night of great music presented by The Billy Shears Band. Members of the band include Gerry Cain-Guitar, Adam Cain-Drums, Marc Mega-Vocals Guitar, Don Bauman-Vocals, Guitar, Dan "Lumpy" Ewald-Vocal, Bass, & Dave "Minty" Mintner-Vocals & Keyboards.

The band's opening program will stress acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies on songs from the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young live album, "Four Way Street." Their voices and guitars blend perfectly on songs like "Find the Cost of Freedom," "Ohio" and "Love the One You're With," as the group recreats these classic early-70s tunes.

"Chains" another song the band will play delves into the 1962 chestnut from the Cookies, although most people remember the version popularized by the Beatles. The British group was a significant impact on the band as they took the Billy Shears name from the character who leads the Beatles' fictitious "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

Other well known songs during the acoustic set might include "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)," a hit for the punk band Green Day in 1997, as well as a selection of "oldies" including "Brown-Eyed Girl" and "Moondance" from singer-songwriter Van Morrison, and some beatles gems like "I Should Have Known Better." "We Can Work It Out," "Nowhere Man" and "You Can't Do That." Don't be surprised if you here "Wish You Were Here" (Pink Floyd), "Cathy's Clown" (Everly Brothers), "Happy Together" (Turtles), and "Under the Boardwalk" (Drifters).

During the second set he band will show their harder-rockin' side during an electric set which will focus on material from the 70s. They demonstrate their jamming abilities on the southern-rock classic "Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker Band and "Come Sail Away," a top ten tune originally performed by Styx. A smooth version of "Hotel California" will show the band's command of the west coast soft-rock sound of the Eagles. All three songs date from the summer of 1977.

Expect to here Bon Jovi's biggest hit, "Livin' On a Prayer," as well as an awesome version of Paul McCartney's "Eleanor Rigby."

This will be your only chance to hear these guys in our area should be a great night of music as these musicians bring their vast talent & experience to the new stage at Main Street Music.
